About Us

Spill Media has established itself as a Media Production Company creating and producing media content, running tailor made media training and project-based digital inclusion activities in South Wales.

Spill Media is a Social Enterprise.

Being a Social Enterprise means that our profit is ‘Social Profit’ and this goes back into developing the company and addressing our Social Aims. (See Social Aims) In 2007 Spill Media (formerly YstradTV) gained funding from the Wales Co-operative “Communities @ One” scheme, to run a 6-month digital media project working with over 280 people of all ages and backgrounds. Spill Media quickly established a firm reputation within the area with its ‘Digital Valley’s Explosion’ project, as a provider of high quality, educational media training and Digital Inclusion work.

We were aware that we could not rely purely on grant funding and over the past 3 years Spill Media developed to offer Film Production and Training to a wealth of organisations in South Wales.

Working with a range of clients Spill Media has gained a reputation in offering compelling films and tailor made training. Whilst working on contracts Spill Media continued its funded projects. One example of this is the ONtv project. ONTV was a project which equipped twenty five 18-25 year olds from Neath Port Talbot and Powys with the skills to create news reports. This was funded by Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s “Bridging the Gap” grant scheme.

Spill Media has now secured core funding through Coalfields Regeneration Trust ‘s Social Enterprise Scheme. We are the first Social Enterprise in Wales to be awarded the grant. The grant will ensure we can develop at this important stage of development and continue to thrive and grow as a media production company.

I'm writing to thank you for all of the recent work that you have done for us. I would like to complement the way you relate to the people who use our service, who sometimes, due to their learning disability or communication difficulty, find it difficult to express their wishes. The staff who was filmed have also commented on your approach when filming, how the way you work put them at ease.
